It’s no wonder, and certainly is delightful, our own Dr. Sue Johnson has received this honor.
Dr. Sue Johnson has given so much to community, country and the world. She is an author, couple therapist, researcher, professor, and and speaker. She is the developer of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, the most effective, research demonstrated couple therapy available.
Sue is the author of the best-selling book: Hold Me Tight, Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love. The Hold Me Tight educational program for couples applies what research has learned about couple therapy in a successful workshop format to improve couple relationships and communication.
She is also the author of Love Sense, The Revolutionary New Science of Romantic Relationships. This book outlines the science of love and the new research about why and how we love in a friendly, readable and easy to apply concepts based the new evidence about our adult need to have secure attachment bonds throughout our life span.
Sue is the founding Director of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Distinguished Research Professor at Alliant University in San Diego, California, as well as Professor Emeritus, Clinical Psychology, at the University of Ottawa, Canada.
Dr. Johnson’s best known professional books include, Creating Connections: The Practice of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (2004), Becoming an Emotionally Focused Therapist: The Workbook, and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy with Trauma Survivors (2002).
Sue trains counselors and therapists worldwide about how to do couple therapy and consults to the 35 international institutes and affiliated centers who practice EFT. I’m honored to an affiliated trainer, to co-present alongside this amazing leader, and to co-direct both an institute and center that are affiliated with her and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy.
