Instructions on making movies for internet transfer using a Mac computer*.
I recommend the following to people sending files to me for supervision ( if you are working with iMovie, this may be helpful).
Use iMovie to import your video recording from your camcorder to your computer or preferably to an external drive-to keep the large file OFF your computer itself.
After you have imported the recording in iMovie, it will show up in the Event Library.
Uner the file menu choose 'new project'.
Choose the portions of the session that you want to review in supervision and drag them from the Event Library to the Project Library.
Under the share menu, choose 'media browser' and select 'Mobile'. This will create your movie in a smaller size for sending.
Use a secure file share program, such as Pando Pro (costs about $25 a year) to send it to your supervisor.
Open Pando or Pando Pro
Window drop down menu>> click on new package
In new package>>click on browse>>click on movies>>click on folder 'movie events' or 'movie folder' depending on which one your session is in. (The entire recording will likely be in 'Events Folder'; the selected portions in 'Project Folder'. If you have created the mobile size, you can likely send the entire session, if that is what you want to do.)
Click on chosen folder to open it >> find what you want to send >> drag the file to Pando (where it says - "drag files and folders here") >> enter the address of the person you are sending it to in the 'TO' portion and fill in the other sections.
Hope this is helpful. It takes some experimenting and practice to get used to it...but I agree with everyone, a Mac is reliable and easy to use for non-techies and techies alike!
